JCU Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health

Here at the JCU Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health, our aim is to attract, build, and retain a high-quality health workforce across Central Queensland. This in turn will lead to the delivery of better health, aged care, and disability services in regional, rural, and remote communities across Central Queensland.

The goal of the program is to improve the recruitment and retention of medical, nursing, dental and allied health professionals across the region with outreach to the Gemfields and Biloela. This will ultimately improve the health and well-being of Australians living in rural and remote communities.

The establishment of houses for student accommodation has assisted with the facilitation of students, giving them a safe and comfortable place to stay while completing placements remotely.

The team at the Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) comprises clinical leads in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Nursing, and Pharmacy, with Dietetics and physiotherapy being added in the near future. Research, a Multidisciplinary Training Coordinator, and a Manager of Operations make up the team.

Our Graduates

Coming to Central Queensland and doing a placement through CQCRRH not only leads students one step closer to beginning their professional career but also steers them towards employment post-graduation.

Being familiar with an area, a workplace, or a team gives peace of mind when making big decisions around a first job and doing placement with us can give clarity around all those things.

Hear stories from our graduates who loved their placement so much it created a path to employment.
