The JCU CQCRRH is headquartered in Emerald, in the Northeastern tip of the region. Emerald is a thriving rural health, education and business hub, with a diverse agricultural, mining, horticulture, and tourism industry. Established in Western Kangaulu country, it has slowly grown to the major regional Centre of the Central Highlands and the gateway to the western district. The Capricorn Hinterland to the west contains the largest sapphire Gemfields in the world, and the Carnarvon Ranges and its famous Gorge is a stone’s throw to the south, on the doorstep of the beautiful Arcadia Valley. Emerald is located 270 km west of Rockhampton, 620km southwest of Townsville and 878km northwest of Brisbane.
