Community Engagement

The Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health encourages students to engage with local organisations and participate in community events and activities to enrich their placement experiences and expose them to the benefits of life in rural and remote areas, and promote health careers.

We are proud to partner with local clubs and associations; regional councils; local government; Indigenous health services; private health organisations and Queensland Health who provide additional social and financial support to students on rural placement.

Here's just some of the previous events and activities staff and students have participated in:-

  • NAIDOC celebration activities;
  • Ag-Grow field days;
  • Emerald show day;
  • Careers Day at local schools including Emerald, Dysart, Clermont, Moranbah;
  • Clermont Show;
  • Women's Health Expo;
  • JCU UniX roadshow;
  • Rockhampton Beef Week;
  • Camp Drafts & Rodeos;
  • Junior Rugby Sevens;

Students can also get involved by attending local events including race days, sporting events, Park Run, charity galas and balls, concerts, and weekly trivia nights. Contact us to find out about future events and our engagement in the community.
